Phyllis Dean (Buckingham) Burcham), age 73, of New Douglas, died at 10:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 20, 1942, in Pulaski, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Essie Mayberry Buckingham.
She married Thomas Odell Burcham on June 7, 1958. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Thomas Odell Burcham Jr. of New Douglas and Christopher (Jessica) Burcham of Belleville; two daughters: Lavonda (Ray) Robertson of Livingston and Chelsea Burcham of Greenville; one twin sister; Gloria Jean Jones of Granite City and seven grandchildren: Danyelle, Ashley, Rachel, Carly, Amelia, Aiden and Taryn.
Throughout her life, Phyllis was always taking care of others. Not only taking care of patients when she worked as a nurse, but along with her husband, Thomas, they were foster parents to many children. She will be deeply missed and still remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
