Ray W. Heeren, 87, of Caseyville, Ill., born May 25, 1924, in Montgomery City, Ill., died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at his residence.
Ray retired as an engineer for the Norfolk & Southern Rail Road after 30 years of service. He was also owner of Heeren's Hay Farm in Maryville. He very much enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, nee Foley, Heeren whom he married on March 30, 1957; parents, Harry and Christina, nee De Vries, Heeren; daughter, Sandra Logsdon Summers; son, Richard Ray Heeren; and brothers, Harold Heeren and Roy Heeren.
Surviving are his son, John B. (Debra) McCarry of O'Fallon, Ill.; grandchildren, Brett Logsdon (Frankie), Andrea Johnson (Jason) and Raelyn McCarry (Bob); great-grandchildren, Jaylynn, Juliet, Alyssa, Andin; and special family friends, Rick Heacock and Glenda Kuni.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Southern Illinois especially nurse Kelly, Dr. Lopatin, his staff and the IMU nurses at Anderson Hospital.
