Obituary

Richard Lee Askew, 93, was a God loving man who entered into Heavenly rest on November 30th, 2024.

He fought in the Korean War as a US Marine and was proud to have served his country. He always provided for his family, having his own construction company and worked as an over the road truck driver. Richard loved tinkering in his garage along with camping, fishing, and deer hunting. He enjoyed going on family vacations and later in life, cruises. On Sundays, he enjoyed spending his time at church.

Richard left behind three loving sons, Richard Askew, Jr, Gary Askew, and Alan Askew, and a beloved step-daughter; Tammy Rodriguez. Also left to mourn him are grandchildren Sharian and Olivia Askew-Wolfe; Stephanie, Craig and Jason Askew; Christopher Villalobos; Kaylyn and Keyton Rodriguez; great grandchildren Hanna, Ian, Lilly, Shelby, Symon, Sydney, Sara, Alenna, Joshua, Christopher, McKenzie, Cameron, Preston, McKenna, and Brynlee; great- great grandchildren Parker, Benny, Ian, and Luca.  Also surviving, are his sister Sharon (Askew) Dickinson as well as her children: Tommy, Margie, Alanna, Jesse and their children; his sister Ellen (Askew) Martin as well her children: Trina, Terry, Angela, Timmy, Benjamin and their children; his brother, Randall Askew and his children Kevin, Christy, Shari and Randee; nephews Eddie, Mike, Tommy, and Tim; nieces Kim, Donna, Barb, Tina, Sandy, and Tessie. As well as his ex-wife, Wanda (Askew) Singleton.

Proceeding him in death are his dear wife Erma Askew, brothers David and Don Askew, nephew Davey Askew, niece Katie Askew, grandchild Ria Askew, and close friend Janet Poggemiller.

Visitation will be held at Herr Funeral Home on Monday December 9th, 2024 from 10 A. M. to 12 P. M. Funeral Services will begin promptly at 12. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
