Richard Anthony Bloemer, 75, of Collinsville, born March 31, 1945, in East St. Louis to the late Anthony Arthur and Lina Rose (nee Sabo) Bloemer Jr., passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020, in Carbondale, IL.

Richard served in the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1970 where he earned the rank of Sergeant. After his time in the Air Force, he went to work as a United States federal meat inspector.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Sue (nee Stenzel) Bloemer and his son, Richard Anthony Bloemer II.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Teresa Marie (Carl Wolf) Shepherd; granddaughter, Rebecca Selar Shepherd; brother, Donald (Lila) Bloemer; special niece, Donna King; as well as many friends and extended family members.

Due to the pandemic, the family will have a private prayer service at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL with Rev. John Beveridge officiating. Richard will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Lake View Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's honor may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 207 Vandalia St. Collinsville, IL 62234.
