Richard Bogard, 91, of Granite City, IL, passed away at Anderson Hospital on Monday, October 5, 2020.

Richard enjoyed many artistic activities, some of them being drawing, painting, and woodworking. He and his wife Hazel loved to travel. Their favorite place to visit was Yellowstone National Park, where they enjoyed viewing wildlife, particularly the bears and buffalo. Richard was a great storyteller; he liked to share his adventures from his travels out West, and his stories from his years working as a district manager for the Eastern Weighing and Inspection Bureau for the railroad. Richard was also a Navy Veteran who proudly served his country from July 2, 1946, until July 2, 1948.

Richard was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Hazel Bradshaw, whom he spent sixty-nine amazing years married to, his parents, Perry Bogard and Bertha Wood, and his three sisters, Lucille Biggs, Margaret Cox, and June Sursa.

He is survived by his children, Rosemary (David) McBride, of Granite City, IL, Sharon (Chris) Killebrew, of Athens, AL, William (Pam) Bogard, of Edwardsville, IL, Patricia Bogard-Scarborough (Paul Boner), of Granite City, IL, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 12-1 pm, with a funeral service starting at 1 pm going until 2 pm, and graveside service following at 2:15 pm, located at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Dr. Glen Carbon, IL, 62034.
