Richard "Bill" McGinnis

Richard "Bill" McGinnis, 91, of Collinsville, Ill.,born Dec. 29, 1924, in Rector, Ark., passed away September 19, 2016, at Liberty Village in Maryville, Ill.

He retired from Dempsey Adams Auto Body after many years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville, Ill., where he was a Deacon, Usher, Sunday School Teacher and served on the Mission Board. He was also the captain of the Christian Service Brigade, a member of Local 313 Afl-Cio. He was a US Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Doris,nee Hanser, McGinnis, whom he married on December 24, 1946, in Collinsville Ill.; sons, Mark (Sharon) McGinnis of Collinsville, Ill., Terry (Lee) McGinnis of Dallas, Tx., Michael (Dale Trimm) McGinnis of Palm Springs Ca., Dan McGinnis of Swansea Ill.; grandchildren; Chae Li Yong, Tessa Lester, Paul Riddle, Shea McGinnis, Cheryl Harding, Morgan McGinnis; great- grandchild, Dominic Barnard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard McGinnis and Ruth, nee Copeland, McGinnis; seven brothers and four sisters also preceded him.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Herr Funeral Home Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Collinsville, Ill. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Fairview Heights Ill.
