Richard J. Woolverton, 87, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 24 ^th , 2018. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 12 ^th , 1931 to Richard and Beuna Belle (Frazier) Woolerton.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, June Reeder of Pennsylania.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie (McCoy) Woolverton, daughters, Janet (John) Strzelec of O'Fallon, Missouri, Patti (Jim) Agnew of O' Fallon, Missouri, Tina (Don) Baker of Collinsville, Illinois and Lisa (Gary) Smithe of Collinsville, Illinois. He is further survived by a brother, Dennis Woolverton and sister Linda Woolverton of Collinsville, Illinois, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.

Richard had enlisted to serve his country in the Army, later served his community as a Police Officer, and after that went into his passion for driving a semi-truck.

Richard loved his family very deeply. He also cherished the animals that came into his life. He had a deep passion for dogs.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 27 ^th , 2018 at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Illinois.

Funeral will be at 11:00 am Friday, December 28 ^th , 2018 at the funeral home, with an additional visitation one hour prior to service.

Memorials may be made to any animal shelter of the donor's choosing, and may be given at the funeral home.
