Robert L. Johann

Robert L. "Bob" Johann, 85, of Collinsville, Ill., born December 25, 1931, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, and is now together forever with his wife, Francie.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who loved being with his family. He retired from the Water Treatment Plant for the City of Collinsville after 23 years of dedicated service. For many years Bob worked at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill. He valiantly served his country in the U.S Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill., where he served on numerous boards. Bob was very active with Holy Cross Lutheran School as well, serving on the Board of Education and was instrumental in starting and overseeing the school lunch program. He was past President of the Collinsville Jaycees where he was recognized by the State of Illinois as one of the top five presidents, past member of the Collinsville Recreation Club.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Frances, nee Ventrice, Johann whom he married June 30, 1956, and passed away May 10, 2008; his parents, Louis H and Loretta, nee Hollensen, Johann; his brother Louis M. Johann.

Surviving are his loving children Micki (Dean) VanDyke of Collinsville, Ill., Jeff (Kari) Johann of Collinsville, Ill., Pam (John) Yurchuk of Collinsville, Ill., Andrea (Dennis) Howard of Fairview Heights, Ill., Kristin (Ty) Winiger of Evansville, In.; his nephew, Ray (Nancy) Leslie of Collinsville, Ill. his grandchildren, Megan, Jordan, Joshua, Emily, Leah, Abigail, Kaitlynn, Eli and Austin; his great-grandson Leo.

Memorial contributions in honor of Bob can be made to Holy Cross Lutheran School Tuition Assistance or Lutheran Youth Ministries (LYM) and can be received at Herr Funeral Home. Condolences to the family can be expressed through this online guestbook.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at Herr funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill., with Pastor Kyle Wright officiating. Burial will follow the service at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
