Robert L. Boothman, 73, of Collinsville, Ill., born Friday, June 19, 1942, in Sandoval, Ill., died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Boothman was a very successful grocer all of his life. He owned and operated Red Fox Grocery in Venice, Ill., for 22 years. He was very good at his trade and he loved it. His family always came first. He dedicated his life to their needs. He also loved volunteering his free time to the Collinsville Shrine Club. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, nee Swank, Boothman, whom he married on Aug. 31, 1969; his parents, Robert Boothman and Josephine Young Boothman; a brother, Paul Boothman; and sisters, Margaret Pugh, Jane Belleville, and Mary Kay.

Surviving are his daughter, Dawn (James) Brown; grandchildren, Jacob and Lauren Brown; a sister, Patricia Hilscher; and many loved nieces and nephews and his extended family, Gary Swalley and family and the Roustio family.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Fran Boothman Memorial Fund at FCB, for his grandchildren's college fund, or to the Shriners Hospital.

Services: There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill. There will be a Masonic service at 6 p.m. and memorial service to honor the memory of Robert and Frances Boothman at 7 p.m. with Tony Minear officiating.
