Robert Walter Michael Edgeworth, known affectionately as Bob, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 86. Born on December 11, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, Bob lived a life marked by devotion to family, unwavering integrity, and a profound commitment to his work and community.
Bob owned and operated Superior Services, a business he founded and nurtured with passion and determination. Superior Services specialized in supplying, installing, and maintaining equipment for medical and dental practices throughout the region. Traveling tirelessly in his signature blue work van, Bob developed more than just business relationships—he forged lasting friendships that underscored the trust, loyalty, and respect that characterized both his personal and professional life. further demonstrating his dedication and leadership in his field. Though retired, Bob never truly stepped away from the company that meant so much to him.
A member of the Moose Lodge in Edwardsville, Illinois. Bob embraced service and community throughout his life. His character was epitomized by a strong work ethic, honesty, and kindness, values he upheld in all his endeavors.
Above all, Bob was a devoted husband and proud father. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Joy Ann Edgeworth (nee Turner), whose partnership brought him great joy and support. He raised seven daughters, each of whom was a beacon of Bob’s nurturing spirit. Sandra (Alan) Spyrka, Christine (James) Bader, Lesia (Guy) Walton, Brenda (Peter) Foschiatti, Tammy (Eric) Carlson and Ashley Esmon, 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Bob’s family was enriched by the strength and wisdom of his brother James (Carol) Edgeworth and sister Ruth (Dennis) Natarelli. He is also remembered fondly alongside departed loved ones including his parents, James Michael and Dorothy Catherine Edgeworth (nee Weisseg), his brothers Richard, Joseph, and Lawrence Edgeworth, his son Jerry Westmoreland and his daughter Melissa Hoppe.
A man of gentle nature, Bob’s compassion extended beyond people to the animal companions he cherished. Known for rescuing strays and offering them a loving home, he shared a special bond with his dog Polo, who remained faithfully by his side in the final months of his life.

Friends and family will gather to honor Bob’s memory with visitation on April 16, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Estates, located at 50 Foundation Drive in Glen Carbon, Illinois. The funeral service will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with burial commencing at 12:00 p.m. at the same location.
Robert Walter Michael Edgeworth leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, respect, and service. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, hard work, and steadfast loyalty. He will be deeply missed, remembered forever for the quiet strength and heartfelt generosity he showed to all who knew him.
