Obituary

Robert D. "Bob" Field age 93 of Collinsville passed away on August 24, 2018 in Edwardsville, IL.  He was born on March 12, 1925 in Collinsville, IL.  He attended public schools in Collinsville, graduated from Collinsville High School in 1943. On February 9, 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged November 9, 1945. He graduated from the University of Illinois, Champagne Urbana in January 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in January of 1952.  He was employed by two architectural firms for a period of four years, prior to the founding of his firm, Robert D. Field and Associates, Inc. Architects and Engineers in Collinsville in 1956. He remained in private practice until his retirement in 2004.

Bob designed, to name a few, churches, schools, professional office buildings as well as nursing homes. He served as President of the Southern Illinois Chapter, American Institute of Architects, President of the Illinois Council of the American Institute of Architects; President of the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce; Life member of Marine Corps League; Collinsville VFW Post #5691 and Collinsville American Post #365. He also served on the Board of Directors of Home Federal Savings and Loan Association for 56 years and has served as Chairman of the Board for the past 33 years.

His Masonic career began on June 4, 1968 when he was raised sublime degree of Master Mason in Collinsville Lodge #712. He became a member of unity Chapter #182 R.A.M. Collinsville, IL in 1969; Ainad Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. of E. St. Louis, IL; Ainad Temple Legion of Honor; Collinsville Shrine Club (Past President). Illustrious Brother Field received his Scottish Rite Degrees in the Valley of Southern Illinois in 1968. He served as Most Wise Master for the John M. Pearson Chapter of Rose Croix in 1997-1998. He was created a 33 rd Degree Grand Inspector General in Atlantic City, NJ in 1999.

Bob was a lifelong member of First United Presbyterian Church of Collinsville and served as Deacon, Elder, on the Session and Board of Trustees as President.

Preceeded in death by his parents Edwin O. Field and Myrtle Kaiser Field. His former wife and mother of his sons Patty Lou Greer. A brother Edwin "Ted" Field, Sister-in-law Mary Ann Field, daughter-in-law Donna M. Field.

Survived by his loving wife, Judith Diane Brown Field whom he married on December 22, 1982. Sons, Robert F. Field (Debbie) of Kimberling City, MO. Richard C. Field (Theresa) of Maryland Heights, MO. Daniel A. Field (Kris) of Troy, IL. His sister, Janet M. (Bill) Deckert of Overland Park KS. Twelve grandchildren, Nine great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

Services:  Visitation will be Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018 10:00 AM, at First United Presbyterian Church, Collinsville, IL. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Collinsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Heartland Hospice.
