Obituary

Roger Edward Nance, 75, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at his residence on January 3rd, 2026.

Roger was born in St. Louis City on May 22nd, 1950, to parents Leonard Wayne Nance and Betty "Marie" (Nee McClain) Nance. He married the love of his life, Victoria, in 1972. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together this past December, right before his passing.

Roger could best be described as someone who was a jack of all trades. There simply wasn't anything that he couldn't do. He spent 33 and 1/2 years working for Matco Tools, a career he took great pride in and truly loved before retiring.

He loved boating, camping, riding his motorcycle, and just being outdoors in general. An animal lover at heart, Roger held a special place for animals and enjoyed their companionship. He was the type of guy who just loved life, loved his job, and loved his family. He never knew a stranger and would never pass up an opportunity to share some of his life stories. If you were to ask him what he was most proud of in life, he would probably tell you it was his grandchildren.

Preceding Roger in death are his parents, Leonard and Betty "Marie" Nance, his siblings, David Phillip Nance, Tina Marie Nance, and Bruce Wayne Nance; as well as his brother-in-law, David Graham.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Victoria Lynn (nee Graham) Nance; children, Stacey (Craig) Mitchell and Ethan Nance; siblings, Dennis (Brenda) Nance, Michael (Linda) Nance, and Linda (Rick) Mann; cherished grandchildren, Christopher (Scout) Mitchell, Collin Everright, Nicholas Nance, Jessica Nance, Corey (Theresa) Mitchell, Connor Everright, Jocelyn (Jaret Altenberger) Everright, and Warren Woolsey; and cherished great-grandchildren, Willow Slone, Andrew Mitchell, Colt Mitchell, Savina Mitchell, Araceli Mitchell, Fallon Mitchell, Atlas Altenberger; as well as many more extended family members and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from the Chapel of Herr Funeral Home on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m., with Pastor Ron Habermehl presiding.

Memorials may be made in Roger's name to the Shriner's Children's Hospital
