COLLINSVILLE, IL- Roger D. Smith, 75, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Roger was born April 3, 1943 in East St. Louis to Billy and Lillian (Knight) Smith. He married Mercedes Glodean Wells on December 22, 1964 in Collinsville, IL. She survives and resides in Maryville, IL.

Also surviving are his children, Robert (Lisa) Smith of Patoka, IL, Angela (Ariel) Garcia of Collinsville, IL and Anthony (Leslie) Smith of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren, Sean, Olivia, Brendan and Grant; and brother, Ray Smith of Paragould, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eddie Smith and Larry Smith.

Roger was employed with Big River Zinc Corporation in Sauget, IL as a leach operator from 1973, until his retirement in 2004.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and treasured the time he could spend with them. He enjoyed hunting in past years with his sons. He was also a loving caretaker to his dear wife, Glodean for many years. Roger will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

VISITATION: A visitation for Roger will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 4:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at Herr Funeral Home of Collinsville, IL.

FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.
