Roma Mary Knecht, nee Schwieder, 101, of Collinsville, Ill., born April 14, 1915, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Friday, July 1, 2016, in Collinsville, Ill.
Roma was a homemaker, had worked for St. Mary's Hospital, and in retail sales. She was a longtime and faithful member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert George Knecht, whom she married on Nov. 7, 1935; an infant son, Richard Paul Knecht; her parents, Joseph and Lorretta, nee Bess, Schwieder; and a brother, Joseph Schwieder.
Surviving are her children, George Joseph Knecht of Gilbertsville, Ky., Robert (Paula) James Knecht of Collinsville, Ill., and Ruth Anne (Bruce) Hawkins of Collinsville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Dean of Ohio.
