Ronald Dean Bates, 68, passed away, surrounded by his family, at his home in Edwardsville, IL on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

Ron was born on November 11, 1954 in East Saint Louis, Illinois to parents Clabe and Viola (McGinnis) Bates.  Ron met Pamela (Rae) O'Dell on May of 1980 and married on August 31, 1985, and spent 37 wonderful years together.  During their marriage, Ron and Pam(Rae) provided a loving home for their four beautiful children.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Clabe Bates and Viola Kite and siblings, Rosemary Crossen, Lois Bates, Homer Kite, Jr., Harold Kite, Jimmy Kite, Raymond Bates, Roxie Doty and Nevada Bates.

Those left to cherish Ron's memory include his loving wife, Pamela Rae Bates; children, Misti (John) Calandro of Collinsville, Deanna Bates of Collinsville, Michael (Brianna) O'Dell of Glen Carbon, and Shawn (Jennifer) O'Dell of Edwardsville; six grandchildren, Brittney Calandro, Damian Tucker, Hailee O'Dell, Makaila O'Dell, Parker O'Dell, and Peyton O'Dell; four great-grandchildren, Emery Summer, Tenton Summer, Tytus Summer, and Waylen Calandro; brothers, Terry Bates, Robert Bates, and John Kite; sisters, Debbie Solomon, Janet Rivera, Mary Kusmer, and Peggy Bates; and his two precious fur-babies, Simon and Phoebe.

Services for Ron will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive in Glen Carbon, IL.  Visitation will be held from 11:00am - 1:00pm with the funeral service to follow at 1:00pm.  Burial in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens will immediately follow the service.
