Obituary

Rev. Ronald G. Hill, 89, of Caseyville, Ill., born Monday, July 26, 1926, in Ramsey, Ill., died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at the Caseyville Nursing Center, Caseyville, Ill.

Pastor Ron was an associate minister and visitation minister for the First Baptist Church, Collinsville, Ill. He was a retired missionary, which he had served for 36 years in Indonesia. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of VFW Post 5691, Collinsville, Ill. He was former chairman of the Meals on Wheels program and was also a visiting chaplain at both Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill., and Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

He was preceded by his parents, Harry K. and Lurena, nee Davis, Hill; two brothers, Lloyd K. and Art D. Hill; and brothers-in-law, Sam Wayne, Carl Martin and Nelson Applegate.

Surviving are his wife Charlene, nee Walker, Hill, whom he married May 4, 1944, in Fillmore, Ill.; son, Michael Gene (Delores) Hill of Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughter, Vicki Lynn Hill of Caseyville, Ill.; son, Phillip D. (Mary) Hill of Collinsville, Ill.; daughter, Pamela Joy (Wayne) Karanovich of Richmond, Ind.; and daughter, Nansi Grace (Ray) Farnworth of Collinsville, Ill.; sisters, Virginia L Wayne of Fillmore, Ill., Velma B. (Donald) Denton of Vandalia, Ill., Laveda Martin of Ramsey, Ill., Joyce (Scott) Walker of Irving, Ill., and Mary Jane Applegate of Fillmore, Ill.; brother, Richard J. (Kay) Hill of Gillespie, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 27, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Collinsville, Ill. with Rev. Greg Pratt officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery St. Louis, Mo.
