Ronald Wayne Sherry, 76, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away on October 2, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Ron was born July 25, 1945, to John and Bessie (Daniels) Sherry in Sikeston, Missouri. On July 12, 1963, he married the love of his life, Vera Sue Andrews. They spent 58 years together.

For 40 years, Ron worked for the Railroad as a Clerk before retiring in 2005. He made many lifelong friends there. Besides being dedicated to his wife and children, his next big dedication was to his Chicago Cubs. Ron was an avid golfer who LOVED the game. He was competitive by nature and would have to play numerous games of washers, cards, spoons or even H-O-R-S-E until he was the winner. He enjoyed fishing and loved everything about the outdoors. He coached Khoury League Baseball for many years. Ron never met a stranger and was loved by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Mary Lou VanGilder, Wanda Withers, Norma Jean Maddox, and Laura J. Young.

Survivors include his loving wife, Vera Sue Sherry of Collinsville, Illinois; sons: Ronald W. (Melissa) Sherry, Jr. of Greentown, Indiana, and Jon P. (Tonya) Sherry of Addieville, Illinois; daughter, Ashley Sherry of Collinsville, Illinois; brothers: Alan (Sue) Sherry of Columbia, Missouri, and Gerald (Sandy) Sherry of Cambria, Illinois; sisters: Betty Lee Smith of Carbondale, Illinois, and Peggy (Floyd) Whittom of Desoto, Missouri; grandchildren: Nick, Addie, Ryan, and Breanna;  great-grandchildren: Jonah and Iris; multiple nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Herr Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, Illinois. Cremation will follow visitation. A Celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date.
