Roy Raymond Burns Sr., 89, of Collinsville, Ill., born Feb. 21, 1926, in Caseyville, Ill., passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Burns was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Collinsville Moose Lodge and the Collinsville VFW. He retired from Ameren Illinois and was a member of Labor Local 44.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores E., nee Wrigley, Burns, whom he married on Sept. 6, 1957; his parents, Joseph W. and Amanda E., nee Becker, Burns; and brothers and a sister.

Surviving are a son, Roy R. (Barbara) Burns Jr. of Collinsville, Ill.; a daughter, Ginny (Donald) Shup of Troy, Ill.; stepsons, Thomas E. (Kathleen) Whitworth of Collinsville, Ill., and Michael E. Whitworth of Brownsville, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
