Obituary

Rufus "Woody" H. Woodring, 85, of Caseyville, Ill., born Aug. 26, 1926, in East St. Louis, Ill., died at 6:05 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at his residence.



Mr. Woodring graduated from Collinsville High School where he played football and basketball, he then attended Beloit College in Beloit, Wis., then upon returning to this area he graduated from Rankin Technical Institute. Rufus was a plant supervisor for Union Electric Power Plant in Portage Des Sioux, Mo., he retired after 45 years of dedicated service. He very much enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid outdoorsman, he love to fish and hunt. Rufus along with his hunting buddies went on numerous hunting trips to Montana,



He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, nee Sims, Woodring; parents, Rufus and Irma Beatrice, nee Duke, Woodring; and a sister, Alice, nee Woodring, Luebbers.



Surviving are his children, Pamela (Allen) Woodring-Brown of Caseyville, Ill., Gerold Woodring of Caseyville, Ill., Terry Woodring of Bull Shoals, Ark., and Kevin (Connie) Woodring Sr., of Troy, Ill.; grandchildren, Jessica (Deryck) Dietz of Valley Park, Mo., Kevin Woodring Jr., and Kyle Woodring, both of Troy, Ill.; great-grandsons, Julian Dietz and Emerson Dietz, both of Valley Park, Mo.; brother, George Woodring of Foristell, Mo.; sister, Joyce Wilke of Caseyville, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, and from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at Herr Funeral Home in Caseyville, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Chris White officiating. Interment in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Ill.
