Russell H. Johnson

Russell H. Johnson, 75, of Collinsville, IL., born August 21, 1942, in East St. Louis, IL., passed away peacefully Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.

Russ was a retired Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S Army from 1964 to 1966.  He was a member of the Collinsville VFW Post 5691.  Russ was a lifelong lover of horse racing and he enjoyed spending time at the track with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rose, nee Recklein, Johnson; his two brothers, William Johnson and Robert Johnson Sr.; his three sisters, Darlene Barnes, Betty McAllister and Dorothy Scalcione.

Surviving are his brother Richard Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA.; his sister-in-law Juanita Johnson of Collinsville, IL; his nieces and nephews, Debra McAllister, Pete Scalcione, Ken (Jane) McAllister, Kathleen (Curt) Malham, Linda Daly, Bill Johnson, Barbara (Roy) Burns, Bonnie Johnson, Bobby (Mindy) Johnson, Brenda Johnson, Cindy Barnes and Steve Barnes; his many other great nieces and great nephews and friends; his special friend, Carolyn Bub.

Visitation:  Memorial gathering will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.

Funeral:  Memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Herr Funeral Home.  Private family committal service with full military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
