Obituary

Russell L. Knight Sr.

Russell L. Knight Sr., 87, of Collinsville, IL., born December 30, 1930, in Mounds City, IL., passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, in Caseyville, IL.

Russell, also known as "Candy Man" was a Godly man that was raised in the church.  He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit, jokes and pranks.  Russell loved the time he spent with his family and his dog Angie.  He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Aviation was a hobby for Russell; at a younger age he owned and piloted two planes.   Eventually as he was unable to fly any longer, his interest turned into making model airplanes many of which are keepsakes for family.  He retired after many years of dedicated service from the Custodial Department at Collinsville Unit 10 School District.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen Knight, whom he married July 24, 1948, and passed away May 5, 2015; his parents, Charles A. & Mary, nee Coulson, Knight; his three sisters and three brothers.

Surviving are his children, Sharilyn S. Lyerla of Collinsville, IL., Dianna L. (Ron) Bales of Caseyville, IL., Ella E. (Kenny) Mosby of Caseyville, IL., Russell L. (JoElaine) Knight Jr. of Collinsville, IL., Julie A. (Vernon) Parmley of Staunton, IL., Melanie D. (Rick) Jones of Maryville, IL., Glenn A.
