Ruth A. Burgess, 83, of Highland, IL, born March 12, 1937, in Joplin, MO to the late Coram and Maude (nee Smith) Davis, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Ruth was first and foremost a devout member of the Christian faith. She enjoyed drawing, painting, and singing in the church choir. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Leroy Burgess; sons, Donald "JC" Burgess; and Jimmey Bruce Burgess.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Steve Burgess of Chesterfield, MO; Timmey Lee Burgess of Tempe, AZ; daughters, Bonnie (Rick) Bullard; Annette Kostencki of Highland, IL; brothers, Coram Davis Jr. of Hoyleton, IL; Richard Davis of Clearwater, FL; sisters, Dorothy Kolar of Alhambra, IL; Carleen Akin of Belleville, IL; Shirley Gillispie of Scottsdale, AZ; Betty Anderson of Maryville, IL; Ruby Davis of Hoyleton, IL; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

There will be a celebration honoring Ruth's life at a later date when the limitations on gatherings have been lifted. Ruth will be laid to rest with her husband at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
