Sharon A. Rogers, 66, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on July 14, 2025. She was born on December 15, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri, to George and Lucille (Spranaitis) Rogers.

Sharon grew up in a small, close-knit family. As a child she developed a deep love for animals, especially Boxer dogs—a breed that remained her lifelong favorite. She experienced the difficult loss of her last Boxer just months before her passing. From a young age, Sharon shared a special bond with her only sibling, James. The two developed their own way of communicating, often rooted in humor. Their shared love for the classic antics of the Three Stooges led to endearing nicknames for each other that they continued to use throughout their lives. Their connection was a testament to the strength of family ties.

A gifted student, Sharon earned a master's degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She dedicated her career to medical research and was a long-time employee at Washington University in St. Louis. Her work, particularly in the renal and kidney research division, brought her quiet pride and contributed meaningfully to the field. Though she remained humble about her accomplishments, her dedication and passion for her work left a lasting impact.

Beyond her professional life, Sharon was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in gardening, baking and crafting. Her baking skills included crafting big, decorative cakes for all occasions. She was especially known for her legendary Christmas cookies. Each December, Sharon would spend several days baking over 100 dozen cookies - meticulously organized and crafted - in more than 20 unique varieties. These gourmet treats became highly anticipated by family, friends, and coworkers alike. Though many encouraged her to sell her cookies, Sharon never did. Instead, she gave them as holiday gifts or donated them to a local animal charity for fundraising events. In later years, the cookie tradition became a cherished collaboration with her brother, who was allowed to help under her close supervision, and became an event they both deeply enjoyed and looked forward to.

Sharon is survived by her brother, James, and his wife, Ellen Rogers; cousins Gus (Kathy) Spranaitis and Tony Spranaitis. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lucille; and uncles Stan, Louie (Thekla), and Frank Spranaitis.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to local animal charities, reflecting Sharon's lifelong love for dogs and her generous spirit. Private services will be held at a later date. Sharon will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness, intelligence, and creativity will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
