Shirley A. Brown, nee Kane, 80, of Maryville, Illinois passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born to Richard and Catherine (Kusmierczak) Townsend on February 4, 1943 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She married Jerry Brown on July 11, 1963. They enjoyed many years together before his passing in 2017.

Shirley was a dedicated homemaker who was a beloved wife and loving mother. In later years, she was a doting grandmother who truly enjoyed time with her family. She also enjoyed Hallmark movies and crossword puzzles.

Those left to cherish Shirley's memory are her loving children Jerry B. Brown Jr., James R. (Dawn) Brown, Brenda S. (Jeff) Brown-Schleper, and Jeffrey A. Brown, sister Barbara J. Wetzel, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and also many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry B. Brown Sr. and her parents.

Services will be held at Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main St. Collinsville, IL, with visitation Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest, at a private burial service, at Jefferson Barracks Memorial Cemetery. Shirley will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
