Shirley L. Green, 81, born March 13, 1932, in Sorento, Ill., passed away at 12:17 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Mr. Green was a volunteer firefighter with the Holiday Shores Fire Department and a veteran serving with the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul F. and Bessie R. nee Fenton, Green.

He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Darlene, nee Coppedge, Green, whom he married in 1956, in Hartford, Ill.; son, Kevin L. Green of Channahon, Ill.; daughters, Susan M. (Mark Holloway) Beeler of Highland, Ill., Lori (Robert Sanders) Green of Glen Carbon, Ill.; five grandchildren, Valarie (Joe) Weaver of Edwardsville, Ill., Sara (Adam) Stinn of St. Louis, Mo., Matthew Beeler of Highland, Joshua Green of Channahon, Jacob Green of Channahon; three great-grandchildren, Carsyn Weaver, Jackson Weaver and Yale Weaver all of Edwardsville.

Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30. Interment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
