Shirley Dean Murphy, born October 21, 1926 in Granite City, to the late Carl and Audley (nee Cooley) Behen, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019.

Shirley worked in for service for 20 years and worked another 20 years as a seamstress. She was a member of the Freedom Worship Center and the Quilting Club. Her favorite pastime was bowling.

Shirley is preceded in death by her children, James McMillian; Carol Hicks; Karen Benda; and her sister Dorothy Grossinheider.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Laverne (Roy) Valdez of Granite City; Shirley Everard of Venture, CA; Kathy Burris of Madison, IL; son, Edward Crowell of Granite City; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may gather with the family from 10 to 11 am, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home.

Service: A memorial service will be conducted 11 am, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL.
