S. John Sizemore, 91, of Maryville, IL, passed away on September 6th, 2026, at Liberty Village, Maryville, IL. He was born on November 28, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents, Smedley J. Sizemore, Sr. and Helen M. Byrne.

John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955 as a ground radio operator. He then went on to graduate from Brookes Bible Institute in 1968. He received his associate's degree in science from State Community College in East Saint Louis, IL. He also served on the Cahokia School Board from 1976-1983.

Outside of work, John gave his life to the Lord and his family. For many years he taught Sunday school at various churches and would even preach to the congregation if asked to fill in. He was always talking about the Lord and the love that he had for Him. In John's free time, you could find him reading a book from the huge library he had at home, watching a sports game - Alabama Crimson Tide, the previous St. Louis Rams, or the St. Louis Cardinals (both baseball and football).

John had much love for his family, and it was very evident that they all loved him too. He will be missed dearly.

Preceding John in death is his beloved wife, Mary Sizemore (nee Young); parents, Smedley J. Sizemore and Helen M. Richmond (nee Byrne); sister, Joann Bunker; and grandson, Daniel Dovers.

Surviving John are his three daughters, Angela (Rodney) Malawy, Jennifer (Mark) Churchwell, Tina (Jim) Dovers; six grandchildren, Meghan Dittman, Natalie (Dusty) Simmons, Alisa (Stephen) Moyer, Kyle Dovers, Jonathan (Bri) Dovers, Derek (Aurora) Churchwell; eleven great-grandchildren, Grayson Dittman, Avery Dittman, Nash Dittman, Ridge Simmons, Gentry Simmons, Norah Moyer, Joshua Moyer, Micah Moyer, Caleb Moyer, Ada Churchwell, and Lila Churchwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Calvary Baptist Church; 2249 S State Route 157, Edwardsville, IL 62025.

A public visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Edwardsville, IL, on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10 AM until the hour of service at 12 PM. Burial will immediately follow the service, proceeding to Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, IL.
