Sophie Evanoff, 93, of Maryville, Illinois passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023. Sophie was born on January 16, 1930 in Madison, Illinois to parents, Ben and Ustine (nee Volatian) Kowalski.

Sophie was a member of the Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  She and her late husband, Joseph, enjoyed bowling together, and loved their many trips to Las Vegas, visiting at least 4 times every year. Sophie was a member of the Glen Carbon Senior Citizens Club and the Senior Bowling League, and was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. She liked working puzzle books, especially word searches, going out to eat, and, of course, she loved going to the casino.

Sophie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Evanoff; parents, Ben and Ustine Kowalski; granddaughter, Angie Milota; siblings, Ustine Kostecki, Katherine Davis, Pete Kostecki, Ann Kowalski, and Alex Kostecki; and son-in-law, Joseph Bodine.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Terri (the late Joseph) Bodine and Elaine (Harold) Milota; grandchildren, Nick Milota and Rachel (Al) Giuka; many nieces and nephews; and precious furry friends, Smokey and Gizzie.

As per Sophie's wishes, services will be held for family only.
