Stella Y. Burns, nee Ahart, 76, of Collinsville, Ill., born on July 21, 1937, in Collinsville, Ill., died at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Mrs. Burns was retired from Illinois Bell/AT&T, where she was a switchboard and information operator. She was a life member of Communications Workers of America. Stella enjoyed all night bingo sessions with her friends and family and was known for "Stella's Cakes." She was a member of Wilkerson Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie L. Ahart Sr., and Annabelle Ahart-Crumer; a daughter, Sandra Burns; and two brothers, Lonnie Ahart and Larry Crumer.

Surviving are her children, Robin R. Burns of Collinsville, Ill., Laresa (James) Maddox of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Donald ( Tammie) Burns Jr., of Collinsville, Ill., Todd Burns of Collinsville, Ill., Bryant (Menoshia) Moore Sr., of St. Louis, Mo., Keith (Jean) Moore of Fort Polk, La., Shery (Leonard) Moore-Manley of Collinsville, Ill., and Marcus Moore of Collinsville, Ill.; 29 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Ruby (Melvin) Chenault of Indianapolis, Ind., Melvina Ahart of O'Fallon, Ill., Robert (Joyce) Ahart of Shiloh, Ill., brother, Ronald (Bernadine) Crumer of Corona, Calif., Reginald (Ranae) Crumer of Alton, Ill., and Garry (Phyllis) Crumer of Fairview Heights, Ill.
