Obituary

Stephen Ray Reeves, 71, of Collinsville, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was born on April 19, 1952 in East St. Louis, Illinois to parents, Floyd and Margaret (nee Mudd) Reeves.

Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, working as an airline mechanic during his service. He worked as a mechanic at Big River Zinc for 33 years. Stephen enjoyed playing guitar and, until his illness, played in a band with several of his friends. He enjoyed traveling, and especially liked visiting Myrtle Beach. He was a giving man and loving father, son, brother and uncle, and even coached Little League for his son and nephews. Stephen was a bit cranky and stern at times, but was really a big teddy bear, and showed love to his family in his own way.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Reeves; parents, Floyd and Margaret Reeves; sister, Mary Owens; and nephew, Joseph Powers.

Those left to cherish Stephen's memory include his sisters, Elaine Miller and Janet (Dennis) Powers; brother, Michael Reeves, and his loving dog, Wally; six nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, Illinois on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 10:00am - 2:00pm, followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery in Collinsville, Illinois.
