Susan M. Hammill Munneke, 80, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away on February 16, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Susan was born January 25, 1942, to Paul J. and Hilda Marie (Bierbaum) Smith. She spent almost 20 years working as a Librarian for the St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Edwardsville, Illinois.
Susan loved to read, books were her life. Her friends were too many to count, she still enjoyed lunches with friends, who go as far back to grade school. She was a loving mother and a wonderful, dedicated friend. She loved her family, friends and her two cats, Bingley and Monkey.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 45 years, Walter L. Hammill; and second husband, Marvin Munneke.
Survivors include her daughters: Dawn M. Kaufman of Collinsville, Illinois, and Stacey Lampman of Glen Carbon, Illinois; grandchildren: Anthony Lampman of Edwardsville, Illinois, Nicholas Lampman of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Rachel Wise of Collinsville, Illinois.
Cremation has been accorded by Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Illinois.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday March 20, 2022 at her church, St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, IL. Visitation starting at 2:00 pm with the service beginning at 3:00 pm.
