Thomas Ray Hartsoe Sr., 77, of Fairmont City, Ill., born May 24, 1937, in Cardwell, Mo., died Monday, June 23, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Thomas retired as a mechanic from Bond Tire in Fairview Heights, Ill. He also served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Connie Bea Hartsoe, Macy, nee Grogan, Hartsoe and Lurleen, nee Burke, Hartsoe; a son, Rick Hartsoe; a grandson, Joseph "Joey" Hartsoe Jr., and two sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Carmen Lola, nee Arriola, Hartsoe of Fairmont City, Ill., whom he married March 3, 1958; his children, Fred (David Hunter) Hartsoe of Fairmont City, Ill., Joe (Wanda) Hartsoe Sr. of Collinsville, Ill., Tom (Brenda) Hartsoe Jr. of Collinsville, Ill., Sandy (Andy) Penn of Troy, Ill., Lisa Hartsoe of Collinsville, Ill., Debbie Hartsoe of Fairmont City, Ill., and Mike Hartsoe of Collinsville, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., with Lee Swallows officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
