Obituary

Thomas Reid Roustio, 82, of Glen Carbon passed quietly on Sunday, May 31, 2026, with the love of his life by his side. Tom was born in East St. Louis, IL on June 23, 1943 to parents Melvin P. and Lucille Roustio, who proceeded him in death. He married his high school sweetheart, Victoria (née Brindley) on October 19, 1963. They shared their 62 years in Farmers Branch, TX and Glen Carbon, IL.

A true jack-of-all-trades, Tom was a proud union lead burner and steamfitter. In his various business ventures, he was proprietor of Roustio’s Sirloin Strip in Collinsville, owner of several convenience stores, owner of a travel agency, a commercial and residential real estate developer, a designer and salesman of commercial kitchens, and an investor in senior living spaces.

In addition to his wife, Vicky, he is survived by brothers Mel (the late Gerry) Roustio of Jacksonville, IL and Marty (Denise) Roustio of Farmersville, TX. Tom was a caring father to son Scott (Michele) Roustio of O’Fallon, IL, son David (Angie) Roustio of Independence, MO, and daughter Melanie Roustio Naylor of Edwardsville, IL. He was known lovingly as “Papa Tom” to grandchildren Rachel Roustio, Ronnie (Johanna) Roustio, Tommy (Ashley) Roustio, Katie (Kyle) Paczesny, Parker (Abby) Roustio, Annalee Roustio, Holly (Jack) Roustio, Emily Naylor, Allison Naylor, Austin Naylor, and Bennett Roustio. Among his truest joys were the births of his great-grandchildren Amelia, Ruby, Andi, Kendall, Archie, and Karter.

His faith manifested in his love of family and the way he lived. A man of sincerity, passion, character, and charisma, he forged longstanding friendships throughout his life. His tapestry of family memories includes years of laughing with his brothers on Christmas Eve, a holiday tradition he maintained with his grandchildren, connecting with extended family at the Roustio Family Reunion, and presiding over family vacations at Veranda Beach Club in Longboat Key, FL. His tradition of highly competitive “Aw Shucks” tournaments continues.

The family is eternally grateful for care he received from Barnes-Jewish Hospital, particularly the LVAD Transplant Center, Family Hospice of Belleville, and the wonderful caregivers and staff of Keystone at Magnolia Commons in Glen Carbon.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Glen Carbon. Funeral services will be at 1:00PM. A graveside service and internment immediately follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Family Hospice of Belleville.
