Tod Alan West Sr., 80, of Troy, Ill., born Nov. 15, 1933, in Granite City, Ill., died at 4:10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
Mr. West was a member of Collinsville Masonic Lodge No. 712 and Ainad Shrine Club in East St. Louis, Ill. He was past president of the Egyptian Ham Radio Club and also belonged to the Lewis and Clark Ham Radio Club. For many years, Tod was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, active with the area Red Cross and Illinois Emergency Management System. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran, who retired as a general foreman in the maintenance Department of Cerro Copper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Margie, nee Kennecutt, West; and two brothers, Trevor West and Franklin West.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, nee Pekar, West, whom he married on Jan. 15, 1954; son, Tod A. (Deborah) West Jr., of Dardenne Prairie, Mo.; daughter, Marge (Richard) Saia of St. Jacob, Ill.; grandchildren, Scott Alan West, Jonathon Michael and Stephen Alan Saia; sister-in-law, Barbara West of Troy, Ill.; nephew, George T. West of Highland, Ill.; and nieces, Cathy Dunahee of Troy, Ill., and Vickie Nappier of Troy, Ill.
