Vernon D. Hallows, 82, of Richmond Hill, Ga., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born May 2, 1930, in Collinsville, Ill., died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, in Savannah, Ga.
Vernon was a graduate of Collinsville High School, Collinsville, Ill., an Army Air Force veteran, and had worked for over fifty years in the aviation industry after beginning his career as an air traffic controller at Lambert St. Louis Airport in Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Joyce, nee Coats, Hallows; a son, Vernon "Buddy" Hallows Jr.; and parents, Arthur and Fern, nee Powell, Hallows.
Surviving are a two daughters, Tammy (Terry) Johnson of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Terri (Steve) Wallace of Millford, Ohio; a son, Kirk (Jamie) Hallows of Fredericksberg, Va.; a sister, Joyce "Mickey" Kramer of Collinsville, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Crystal; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
