Vincent A. Reay, 88, of Collinsville, Ill., born April 7, 1924, in Lebanon, Ill., died at 4:27 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at his home.
Vinny was a member and past secretary of Laborer's Local 1106 in East St. Louis, Ill. He retired after 40 years from General Box in East St. Louis. He loved baseball especially the St Louis Cardinals and was a pitcher for old East St. Louis Jack Houston League.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, nee Abernathy, Reay, whom he married on July 1, 1950; his parents, Thomas and Hattie Mae, nee Stevenson, Reay; sisters, Dorothy Fopee, Geraldine Reinacher, Mildred Jung and Bernice Erkman; and brothers, Dale Reay, Thomas Reay and Harold Reay.
Surviving are his daughters, Linda (Marvin) Launhardt of Collinsville, Ill., and Margaret "Peggy" (Jerry) Compton of Caseyville, Ill.; grandchildren, Brian Compton of Caseyville, Ill., Anne (Jake) Medeck of St. Louis, Mo., Joshua Launhardt of Collinsville, Ill., and Nicole Launhardt of Collinsville, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Brody Medeck; his wonderful neighbors, Pete and Caroline Peters and Debbie and Randy Robbins; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Jessa, Jed and Rachel Robbins; special brother-in-law, Gene Reinacher of Belleville, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Rita Poser of Winslow, Ark., Pat Smith of Mobile, Ala., and Sharon Abernathy of Livingston, Ill.
