Vincent Wachter

Vincent Wachter, 92, of Collinsville, Ill., born Feb. 12, 1924, in E. St. Louis, Ill., passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, in Maryville, Ill.

Vincent was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Vincent valiantly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Collinsville VFW. Vincent was retired from American Steel after 30 years of dedicated service.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Helen, nee Romine, Wachter, whom he married in 1952; his parents, Richard and Marie, nee Schroeder, Wachter; sisters, Evelyn White, Josephine Langston, Lorraine Minder; brother, Richard Wachter; half sister, Viola Ward.

Surviving are his children, Kenneth (Nancy) Wachter of Granite City, Richard (Leslie) Wachter of Collinsville, Ill., Cathy (Daniel) Fournie of Collinsville, Ill, Darla Chambless of Collinsville, Ill., Brian (Tamara) Wachter of Flowery Branch, Georgia; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill., with Rev. Rick Elam officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates with full military honors.
