Viola Carroll Turner,101, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Viola was born on April 4, 1922 in Rolla, Missouri to parents, William "Bill" and Helen (nee Favre) Carroll. She married Edward P. Turner on August 31, 1963 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville, Illinois.

Viola retired from Kroger, where she worked as a clerk. After retiring, Viola gave her time to children by working for the Unit 10 School District and at the Town and Country Swimming Pool during the summer. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post 5691. Viola was an avid gardener and loved taking care of her flowers. She had an amazing green thumb and could make anything grow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Turner; son, Larry Turner; parents, William and Helen Carroll; brothers, August and Bill Carroll; and sisters, Louise Stevens, June Owens, Lucille Capps, Rose Rehr, and Mary Sevick.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janet (George) Cannell and Rhonda (Richard) Kismer; grandchildren, Jeannette, Anthony, Bart, Wendy, Sean, and Tracy; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, Aiden, Gabrielle, Michael, Nolan, Chloe, Mey, Alejandro, and Lucia.

Services for Viola will be held at Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main St. in Collinsville, Illinois on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Family will receive guests for visitation from 12pm-1pm, the funeral will be held at 1pm. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Collinsville, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund.
