Obituary

Virgil Lee Boehnke, 90 of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away with his family by his side on November 6, 2023. He was born to Walter and Esther (White) Boehnke on February 16, 1933 in Dayton, Kentucky.


As a young man, Virgil proudly served his country in the US Army. He married Grace on June 29, 1962, in Bellevue, Kentucky and they shared 59 years together before her passing in 2021. He was a man of the Lord and a faithful church and choir member at Providence Presbyterian Church of Troy. Virgil's life work was spent as a concert piano tuner for Baldwin Piano Co. He had a deep appreciation and love for music.


Those left to cherish his memory are his children Duane Virgil (Jeannie) Boehnke, Joseph Paul Boehnke, Stacy Lee, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, his church family, and additional family and friends. Virgil was preceded in death by his beloved wife Grace, his siblings Ernie, Faye, Elmore, Phyllis, Joyce, Iris, Neal, and his parents. Virgil will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, Illinois with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
