Virginia J. Witte, nee Butler, 97, of Collinsville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Virginia was born on June 4, 1919, in St. Louis, Mo., to Oran G. and Cecelia A., nee Taylor, Butler. She married Walter E. Witte on June 13, 1937, in Collinsville. He preceded her in death in September 1987. She was also preceded in death by one son, Major Roger E. Witte; her parents; four brothers and four sisters.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Kay (Guy) Kettler; six grandchildren, Roger Witte, Jr., Richard Witte, Gina (Christopher) Maier, Christopher (Sasha) Witte, Kindra (Mark) Theismann, Karin Kettler, and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor''s choice. Additional condolences may be sent to the family through this online guestbook.

Visitation: A visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017, from 9:30 A.M.- 11:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fairview Heights.

Funeral: A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation, at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville.
