IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia "Virgie"
Davinroy
July 11, 1940 – April 20, 2023
Virginia "Virgie" Davinroy, 82, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away on April 20, 2023, in St. Louis, Missouri surrounded by her family. Virgie was born to Elmer and Viola (Stutts) Smith on July 11, 1940 in Belleville, Illinois. Being the youngest of the Smith's twelve children, she learned early on to always speak her mind, a trait that stayed with her throughout her life. Virgie was a well-known and beloved bartender in the Collinsville area for many years, which was the perfect fit for her social and larger-than-life personality. She enjoyed dancing to her favorite songs and participating in game nights. Virgie was a steadfast friend to many, but most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who absolutely adored her family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Viola Smith; brothers, Elmer
Smith Jr, William Smith, Leroy Smith, Earl Smith; sisters, Patrica Smith, Lillian Ahlers,
Betty Smith, Alene Ortman, Ruth Farnell and Evelyn Valpert.
To carry on Virginia's memory are her daughters, Denise Davinroy of Champaign, Illinois,
and Shelly (Jeff) Niepert of Collinsville, Illinois; grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Unser,
Christina (Lucas Grabbe), Evan Clark and Jacob Strauss; great-grandchildren, Lily
Unser, Lucy Unser, Adelyn Grabbe, Leo Unser, and Louie Unser; her sister, Dorothy
Shelton and many nieces, nephews and friends.
"Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance."
- Martha Graham
