Virginia T. Meurer, nee Asher, 78, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born Jan. 4, 1933, in Colfax, Ill., died at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Memorial Convalescent Center, Belleville, Ill.



Virginia was employed by the former First National Bank in Collinsville for 14 years. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.



She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Hibser; her second husband, Fred J. Meurer whom she married on May 19, 1994; a son Rodney Hibser; parents, Bige and Flora, nee Hacker, Asher; brothers and sisters Charles Asher, Lula Asher, Laura Asher DeVos, Donna Hoover, Geraldine Asher and Fred Asher.



Surviving are her daughter, Jan (Mark) Eversmann of Collinsville, Ill.; stepson, Mike (Tina) Meurer of Edwardsville, Ill.; stepdaughter, Patti (Mike) Neil of Glen Carbon, Ill.; sister, Helen (Sam) Lafferty of Geneva, Ill.; grandchildren, Robert (fiance Meghan), Christy McCluskey, Lindsay and Jared Eversmann and Sara Toth; and great-grandchildren, Cole, Kendall, Kamdyn and Kylie.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at the church with Father John Beveridge officiating. Per wishes she was cremated.
