Wade Anson "Andy" Coverdell

Wade Anson "Andy" Coverdell, 91, of Shiloh, IL, formerly of Collinsville, IL, born December 30, 1924, in Des Moines, IA, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, in Shiloh, IL.

Andy was a caring and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who very much loved spending time with his family. He was a talented musician who was self taught at playing the guitar and the ukulele. Andy also enjoyed traveling, building and flying remote control planes, and metal detecting. He retired from General Motors after 25 years of service where he was the undefeated checkers champion.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Orine, nee Sims, Coverdell; parents, Wade Anson and Blanche, nee Draper, Coverdell Sr.; son, Dale Coverdell; grandson, Neil Coverdell; sisters, Freda Simpson, Margaret Willoughby, Roanne Coverdell; brothers, Gerald Coverdell and Paul Coverdell.

Surviving are his wife, Irene, nee Hartshorn, Coverdell of Shiloh, IL; children, Anson Lynn (Judy) Coverdell of Maricopa, AZ, Marvin Elvin Coverdell of Highland, IL, Glen Allen (Joy) Coverdell of Mason, MI, Barbara (Michael) Rogers of Mascoutah, IL, Debbie (Rich) Brandt of Alhambra, IL; sister, Shirley Ulman of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Fred Coverdell of Cuba, MO, Lynn Coverdell of Edgar Springs, MO; grandchildren, Jeff, Travis, Amy, Apryl, Bruce, Kate, Sarah and Alex. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral: Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
