Wayne Thomas Mount, 91 of Grantfork, IL passed away on February 5, 2024.
Wayne was born December 1, 1932 in Granite City IL, the oldest of 7 kids born to Irvin and and Evelyn (Dildine) Mount. He grew up near Edwardsville, IL attending a 1 room schoolhouse near the Keller Farm on route 157 where he also worked many years gaining a strong work ethic as a boy and young man.
He was drafted into the army on February 11, 1953 and was active duty until February 25, 1955 when he was honorably discharged. When he got out of the army he worked as a truck driver for various companies and at one time had his own truck. He was a member of Teamsters Local 600 and retired as a shop steward in 1994.
He rode motorcycles and raced motorcyles over the years where he did exceptionally well with many first place finishes as a senior rider. In the late 90s he and Tammy joined AHRMA (racing organization) and raced motocross for 20 years on BSA's built by Dick Mann. He and Tammy took multiple cross country trips on their sport touring bikes. He got into serious long distance bicycle riding and every ride was a race. He drove a semi for the Bacardi Silver offshore raceboat for 2 years and hauled the boat across the country to the races. He loved motorcycles and trucks his entire life.
He is survived by his wife Tammy Ritzheimer-Mount, daughters Terri Garber (w/Kuni Doi), Debbie Levora, son Jeff (wife Kim) Mount, grandkids Blaise Mount (Malyah Wallshleager), Tobi Garber, Kadie (Charlie) Lowe, Chelsie Moody (Shane Reedy), 8 great grandkids and multiple nieces and nephews.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, his son Bart Mount and his siblings: June Holes, Joan Garity, Martha Mount, David Mount, Gerald Mount, Nancy Schmutzler.
