William George "Bill" Aksamit was called to heaven on Sunday, October 18, 2015 in Louisville, KY. He was born on September 4, 1927, in Glen Carbon, Ill.

He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Delores Barwell in 1955, and they were married 54 years. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a great business man, retired from Atlantic Richfield Oil Company, licensed Real Estate Broker and worked for a Natural Gas Brokerage firm for many years. Bill always met a challenge head on. He and Patricia moved to Louisville, KY. with Michele and John, where he was kept young by daily visits from his great-grandchildren. He was a great man of great strength who will be missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Aksamit; parents William and Helen Madalyn, nee Sesock, Aksamit; and his sister Doris (John) Aksamit Strealdorf.

Surviving are his three children; Heidi (Mark - deceased) Allen, Michele (John) Stubblefield and Patrick (Deborah) Aksamit; three granddaughters, Madalyn (Matthew) Schepers, Heather Allen and Gabrielle Stubblefield; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Hadley Schepers.

Visitation: Friends may call from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, with Rev. Canon George Pence officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Ill.
