William "Bill" Bean

William "Bill" Bean, 85, of Collinsville, Ill., passed away on August 31, 2017, in Glen Carbon, Ill. Bill was born on July 31, 1932, in East St. Louis, Ill.

Bill was employed by Union Electric for many years. He was a long time active member of Caseyville United Methodist Church serving in many roles; adult Sunday school class teacher, superintendent and was on the Board of Elders. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Frederick and Helen, nee Rodgers, Bean; infant daughter, Cheryl Bean.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Shirley, nee Powell, Bean whom he married on March 5, 1951, in East St. Louis, Ill.; his children, William Michael (Lisa) Bean of St. Louis, Mo., Keith A. (Shelley) Bean of Belleville, Ill; brothers, Robert (Jackie) Bean of Highland, Ill., Raymond (Bonnie) Bean of Troy, Ill.; his grandchildren, Jacob (Brooke) Becker, Jessica Bean, Jordan (Amanda) Bean and Collin Beyer; with extended family Vernon and Cathy Becker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in honor of Bill''s granddaughter Jessica, memorial contributions may be made to: ALFA Foundation, 973 North 6th, Mascoutah Ill. 62258, to benefit adults with developmental disabilities, or they can be received at the funeral home. Visitation: Friends may visit with the family 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Caseyville United Methodist Church, Caseyville, Ill.

Funeral: Services for Bill will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. September 6, 2017, at Caseyville United Methodist Church, Caseyville, Ill. Burial to follow at Caseyville Cemetery.
