William Eugene Charlton, 82, of Maryville, Ill., born Thursday, Feb. 25, 1932, in Granite City, Ill., passed away at 8:31 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at his residence.
Bill retired from Schnucks Groceries where he was a baker for many years and where he was credited with helping start the Nancy Anne Bakery. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was also a former member of the Moose Lodge in Collinsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Anna Mae, nee Chandler, Charlton.
Surviving are his wife, Physcilla D., nee Futrelle, Charlton, whom he married on Dec. 28, 1950; a daughter, Caryl McClaskey of Collinsville, Ill.; two granddaughters, Carrie (Bill) Knierim of Lerna, Ill., and Kelly (Keith) Oliver of Glen Carbon, Ill.; a sister, Janet (Jerry) Kunick of Centralia, Ill.; a brother, Jerome "Jerry" (Jan) Jones of Olathe, Kan.; son-in-law, Daniel McClaskey of Collinsville, Ill.; and four great-grandchildren, Cameron and Cayden Knierim, Alyssa Oliver and Madelynn Knierim.
