William V. Hale, 89, of Collinsville, IL., born July 5, 1928, in Morrisonville, IL.,  passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, in St Louis, MO.

Bill valiantly served in the U.S Army during the Korean War.  He retired from Collinsville School District Unit 10, where he was a teacher and principal.  Bill also worked for Fairmont Park Race Track, Collinsville, IL.  He was very active belonging to Sunrise Kiwanis, Senior Golf League and Senior Bowling League at Camelot Bowl.   He was also a member of Downtown Bridge Club, Collinsville American Legion Post 365 and Collinsville First United Methodist Church.   Bill very much enjoyed traveling extensively all over the world.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene, nee Lowe, Hale; his parents, William P. and Emily, nee Dechert, Hale.

Surviving are his children, Lori Lynn Hunter of Collinsville, IL., Lisa Ann (Bob) Watson  of New Lenox, IL.; his wife, Velma, nee Cate, Hale of Collinsville, IL.;  step sons, Todd Mayfield, and Jay Mayfield both of St. Peters, MO., Christopher Mayfield Hazelwood, MO.; his four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; cousin, Carolyn Yard of Taylorville, IL.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville IL.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Collinsville First United Methodist Church.  Burial with Military Honors will be at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
