William Edward Perry, 65, of Warrenton, Mo., born Sept. 5, 1947, in East St. Louis, Ill., died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Perry was a field assessor for St. Clair County, Ill., and a carpenter with Local 169 (now 662). He was a member of the Hollywood Heights Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years, during which time he served as fire district trustee and treasurer and he was instrumental in establishing the pension fund. Mr. Perry was also a member of the Collinsville Recreation Club, St. John United Church of Christ, Warrenton Masonic Lodge, and East St. Louis Ainad Temple. He was a former member of the Tri-County District Council of Carpenters, Rosemont Baptist Church, Collinsville Shrine Club, Legion of Honor, and Wood River Masonic Lodge 1062.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Edward and Grace Elizabeth, nee Branam, Perry; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Hilda, nee Kassing, Hastings; nephew, David Howell; a brother-in-law, Charles Hastings; sister-in-law, Judith Hastings; and his loyal dog, Lucy.
Surviving are his wife, Carol, nee Hastings, Perry whom he married on July 1, 1972; son, Jonathon Lloyd Perry of Warrenton, Mo.; daughter, Heather Marie and her husband, Mark Schutte of Warrenton, Mo.; brother, Daniel L. and his wife, Patricia Howell of Maryville, Ill.; sister, Betty J. Howell of Caseyville, Ill.; two grandsons, Vincent Jesse Schutte of Warrenton, Mo., and Warren Edward Schutte of Warrenton, Mo.; two nieces, Cindy and her husband, Vance Turney and Suzy Walker; nephew, Timothy and his wife, Kimberly Howell; three great-nephews, Christopher McDaniel, Daniel Howell and Zac Howell; five great-nieces, Megan McDaniel, Alexandra Turney, Sandra Turney, Zoe Howell and Hannah Walker; and his special pet, Maxwell.
The family of Bill would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Dr. James Wade, Dr. Guillermo Rodriguez, Jr., and Dr. Jay Haines, for their wonderful care the last 14 years. Special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Belleville Memorial Hospital ICU 2 North and 3 South.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Herr Funeral Home, with Rev. Tony Minear officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
