Wilma 'Bernice' Szczepanik, 86, of Granite City IL, born January 21st, 1937 in Granite City, died Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Bernice was raised in Bourbon MO and moved back to Granite City at the age of 18, where she became a secretary at a local law office. She left there and worked as a typist at General American Insurance Company for many years. She married the love of her life and became an amazing wife, mother and homemaker.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist church in Granite City, IL.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Clara Harper Noe and Fred Noe; her loving husband, Joseph S. Szczepanik Sr.; one son, Michael D. Mathenia; one grandson, Michael G. Szczepanik; two sisters, Ruth M. Black and Delores P. Carson and two brothers, Kenneth W. Noe and Linn T. Noe.

Surviving is her sister Sandra P. Williams; her children, Joseph (Cindy) Szczepanik, Belinda Brunk (Dave Otting), Michael (Angela) Szczepanik; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins who will all miss her dearly.

Visitation and Services will be held on Friday, January 26th, 2024, at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL.
Visitation will begin at 11 AM.
Funeral services will be immediately following at 12 PM with Bro. Wesley Hahn officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Edwardsville, IL.
Memorials may be made to the APA in Granite City, IL or the American Cancer Society.
